According to industry rumors, Apple will start to save heavily on accessories this year.
This year's iPhones may be in a slimmer box: Ming-Chi Kuo, a market analyst with typically insider information on Apple's affairs, says the manufacturer will no longer pack charger adapter and earpiece for your devices to compensate for the extra cost of 5G network components. With the move, the company can not only save on the accessories themselves, but thanks to the size of the package, it can also cut back on shipping costs – even if you’re really preparing for a similarly drastic move. It is not yet clear whether the company will continue to include the Lightning cable with its devices.
With the move, Kuo says Apple's charger offering is also expected to be severely cleaned, removing the company's current 5- and 18-watt adapters, which will be replaced by a new 20-watt model that will be purchased separately.
