The search giant extends the home office option to about 200,000 employees
Almost all Google employees can remain in home office by mid-2021. The search giant, according to the Wall Street Journal, will extend the opportunity for telecommuting originally scheduled for January 2021 for its 200,000 workers and subcontractors until June next year. Google CEO Sundar Pichai emailed employees about the option, at least for employees who aren’t necessarily tied to their office by their job. Due to a particularly severe epidemic in the U.S., more and more tech giants are extending their plans for telecommuting, including Facebook, Amazon and Twitter – the latter’s CEO Jack Dorsey also spoke about whether he would later open up the possibility of an unlimited home office.
