Alexa for Apps makes Amazon's Virtual Assistant features available to third-party developers
Amazon has made new development tools available to extend the capabilities of its virtual assistant, Alexa – notably Alexa for Apps, it allows developers targeting the Andorid and iOS platforms to integrate certain features of the virtual assistant into their applications. The solution is already being used by some of Amazon’s early partners, so for example, it is possible to start video recordings in TikTok with a command given to Alexa, but users can even call Uber transport using Alexa. Alexa for Apps, which is still previewed, could be a serious weapon in Amazon's hands, as it could set foot on both major mobile platforms – as opposed to Google's and Apple's own assistants, which are limited to companies' own mobile systems.
